Stone, Brick and Flint can become damaged for a variety of reasons but most commonly because of ingress of moisture, atmospheric pollution, subsidence and weather conditions. This can cause spalling brickwork and cracked or broken stone and flint work. When this occurs the damaged masonry must be carefully removed and replaced. We ensure that we source masonry which matches the style, colour, texture and makeup of the original.
Often the replacement masonry must be hand made by specialist companies to ensure compatibility of texture, colour and patina. The original mortar must also be analysed and re-created with aggregates from the local area to the property. We liaise closely with Clients, Conservation Officers and Architects to restore the building to its original condition to help preserve it for future generations.
